Thomas McSwane

Artist Statement

As a child I was drawn to the beauty of the natural world. As a young man I was introduced to the Master Creator while travelling in Europe. Because of God's unique work in me, my art became infused with bold energy & color as well as allegorical, literary and historical references. My goal is never to exactly recreate the scene before me, whether it be a landscape, still-life or a figure. Instead, I endeavor to present to the viewer a glimpse of the unseen world by inviting the spirit of God into a creative relationship. While bringing personal intuition, emotion and experience to this partnership, my attempt is to 'get out of the way'. I hope my paintings introduce new ways of experiencing and connecting to the world around us.
